Do you love yourself? I mean really love you? Have you fallen in love with yourself? How do you fall in love with yourself? So many times many of us lack self-love because we haven’t taken the time necessary to fall in love with ourselves.
Our journey into a lack of self-love didn’t just start. It started as children. It started with the things people said to us. The way people made us feel. The way we started to feel about ourselves. I had a wonderful childhood growing up. I was the youngest in a family of eight. As the baby of the family, I was very well loved. For me, it started in elementary school. Like most children, I was teased in school. I was told I was too short, my nose was too big, my forehead was too big. I got teased like everybody else.
My journey changed when I was in high school and went through a series of experiences that started to impact my self-esteem more. Once I got to college, I was already in a place where I didn’t truly love and value the person I was inside and out so when people said negative things about me, I internalized it. Now, I know better. Through my journey to self-love and acceptance, I learned that to fall in love with yourself first is the best thing you can do for yourself.
So when you look in the mirror, I want you to start falling in love with what you see. Fall in love with the person you see in the mirror. Fall in love with your skin color, eye color, your body and your curves. Affirm yourself daily. Speak positive words to yourself. Start thinking of yourself with a positive self-image. Think of yourself in a positive light. Fall in love with yourself. Fall in love with what you see about yourself. Fall in love with your hair and your eyes and your nose and hips. Fall in love with your heart. Fall in love with your spirit.
Focus on being the best representation of yourself you can be. Leave yourself positive affirmations on your mirror every day saying how beautiful you are and how lovely you are and how valuable you are. Write yourself a love letter and tell yourself all the things you love about yourself and read that letter to yourself every day and when you wake up, wake up with your head up, your chest out, and a big smile on your face knowing that God doesn’t make mistakes. He created you as this beautiful person that has value to the world. You have value as a woman, as a man, as a boy, and girl. You have value to impact Society in a positive way.
Only surround yourself with people who affirm you. Surround yourself with people who uplift you and see the beauty inside of you. Keep positivity all around you, so you can thrive and live surrounded by love, light, and positivity. If you don’t have that unconditional love in your life, seek it out in support groups that will build you up. Today is a great day to start seeing the beauty inside of you and embracing the total you!
Decide today to embrace who you are, love who you are, and decide today that you are going to live your best life, mind, body, and spirit. The journey to falling in love with yourself and embracing the totality of your beauty inside and out will be the best journey of your life.
